30/6 Driving Instruction
30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of individual training behind the wheel (Full Certificate provided)
The Marietta/Cobb Driver’s Education Program is licensed by the Department of Driver Services (License # DE 120) and supported by course fees.
Course, registration, and policy information Classroom information This course consists of 30 hours of classroom instruction and 6 hours of behind the wheel instruction and meets the requirements for Joshua’s Law and qualifies for the Teen Driver’s Education insurance discount. (Georgia Code O.C.G.A. 33-9-42) The classroom portion is intended to teach students in small groups with one instructor. The students should have strong attention, behavior, and test taking skills. The fee for the course is $350 and covers both the classroom and behind the wheel portions.
In order to maintain the high quality and consistency of instruction, absences are not permitted. If a student misses a class or any portion of a class he/she will be dropped from the class roll at that point and may enroll in a future course as space allows. Please be careful to enroll in a session that you know your teen can complete without absences.
Upon successful completion of classroom and driving portions of the course, the student will receive a full certificate of completion and an Alcohol/Drug Awareness Program Certificate (ADAP). If the student has already completed the ADAP portion of the class, he/she must attend the class but will not be issued another certificate.
Behind the wheel information All Driver’s Education cars are equipped with an instructor side brake and are less than 7 years old. Partner’s-in-education including Carl Black Pontiac/GMC, WellStar Health Care System, Marietta Rotary Club, and AutoTrader.com provide some of our cars.
The behind the wheel instruction in this course is intended for students who have strong attention and intact sensory acuity.
Behind the wheel instruction is one-on-one instruction in a specially equipped car. Students are assigned to instructors in the order in which they register for the course and will be contacted by the driving instructor regarding a convenient schedule of 3 – 2 hour driving appointments.
Our office must have the student’s permit number and date of issue before the student can be assigned to a driver’s education instructor for their 6 hours of behind the wheel driving. If that information was not completed on the registration form please fax the permit number and date of issue to our office at 770-429-3178. The student will not be assigned until we receive this information.
Driving appointments meet at the Marietta Sixth Grade Academy located at 340 Aviation Road. Map and Directions
Cancelled driving appointments result in lost instructional hours and delay the assignment of the remaining students. Driving appointments must be cancelled at least 24 hours in advance to avoid a $40 rescheduling fee. Policies
